How Sweet It Is

For our wedding dessert, Andrew and I have chosen to go with cupcakes! I’m definitely a fan of dessert bars, which have been a pretty popular trend with weddings lately.  So I thought it would be fun to create a rustic style cupcake bar, and have a small cake just for the two of us to cut. To create these rustic crate/box props, I used plywood, wood stain, finishing nails, a hammer, and a miter saw.  You can easily recreate these yourself at home! If you or someone you know is handy, and you have access to power tools, this is a great , cheap way to add visual interest to your dessert table!

Now I know you’re probably thinking that there is no way we can fit enough cupcakes on there for our guests, but no worries! This is simply a way to display everything, and the kitchen staff will replenish them as they are eaten.

I plan to add these pastry stands to both medium sized boxes in the back row.

Our cake will be displayed on a similar vintage style cake stand on the stacked boxes in the middle of the back row.

We will have a personalized nest cake topper like this one. I still can’t get over everything in this Etsy seller’s store, it’s all so pretty!

And our cupcakes will be baked in these adorable liners!

While we’re on the topic of dessert bars, I will share some images of other dessert bars that inspired me to make one!

I created some burlap bunting for the cake table, and it will also be displayed like this!
